Since 1978, the Town of Tonawanda Youth Engaged in Service (YES) program has been connecting youth volunteers with community organizations in need of help.

For Prospective Members
If you are between the ages of 12 and 18 and are interested in volunteering, having fun and making friends, then the Town of Tonawanda Youth Engaged in Service (Y.E.S.) Program wants you! Complete an application and return to the Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department, 299 Decatur Rd, Tonawanda, NY 14223. You will be contacted once your application is reviewed.

This unique group of volunteers from all over the Ken-Ton area participate in a wide range of projects that serve the needy, elderly, children and disabled in our community and Western New York. Volunteers give what time they can, choosing from an array of projects offered monthly. Adult supervision is provided at all events and on-site training is given for any skills needed for an activity. A mandatory orientation session for new members is held regularly.

Apply online!

Community Organizations
Community organizations, schools, and businesses that are interested in having Y.E.S. volunteers at your event may complete a Service Request form and mail it to the Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department, 299 Decatur Road, Tonawanda, NY 14223 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. Please note we cannot guarantee help at your event, as our volunteers sign up for events based on their availability. We often do not have an estimated head count until a few days in advance. We also cannot guarantee that the volunteers who sign up will be able to perform face painting and ballooning (if requested), as not all are trained. Please follow up with us a few days before your event so we can confirm numbers and tasks we can help with.

Y.E.S. does not volunteer at private parties or events, and we are not able to provide home/lawncare help to individuals.

You will then receive monthly newsletters and can sign up online for the events you are interested in volunteering at.

Where do you volunteer?  We volunteer at a variety of community events, nursing homes, and soup kitchens.

How do I find out my hours?  We calculate community service hours on a monthly basis. If you need a list of hours or a form signed for school, please plan accordingly and let us know a week in advance.
