TOWN OF TONAWANDA SAFECAM (CAMERA) REGISTRATION (TOWN RESIDENTS ONLY PLEASE)
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The Town of Tonawanda Police Department’s Security Camera Registration is a critical component in our overall crime prevention and investigative strategy. The ability of video cameras to both deter crime, and should crime occur, help assist in the effort to identify those responsible, has proven invaluable to the department’s crime fighting methodology.
By registering your security camera(s) with the Town of Tonawanda, we will be able to quickly identify a possible “witness”, in the form of video footage, should an incident occur in the general vicinity of your establishment.
Registration is simple. We are asking for basic information on quantity of cameras, storage capacity, and contact information.
The Town of Tonawanda Police Department will only contact you regarding possible camera footage, if a crime or serious incident occurs in the general vicinity of your home or business. Your security camera information will never be publicly shared and will be stored internally within Town of Tonawanda Police Department Headquarters and the Erie County Crime Analysis Center (accessible only by law enforcement). Video retrieved from you as part of this program may be used in any official criminal proceeding.
Should the need arise to reach out to you, in an attempt to ascertain whether your video footage may be of assistance, we will contact the person you have listed on the accompanying form, and work to make the viewing, and/or procurement of the video clip itself, as quick and easy as possible.
In the event we have previously requested or obtained images or video through you, we ask that you please consult with the Town of Tonawanda Police Department should the media ask you for images or video regarding the same event. Additionally, you agree to never pose as an agent or employee of the Town of Tonawanda Police Department.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to public safety in the Town of Tonawanda. It is genuinely appreciated.
Below, please enter any further detailed information about the cameras (ex. direction , audio, range of their recording area). This information will be archived and referenced in case of a crime. As always this information is kept confidential.
By adding your cameras to the registry, you are helping to make our town a safer place!
