About the HOME Program
76 Crowell New Build 110609 thumb

The HOME program was authorized in 1990 under Title II of the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act, to provide decent, safe, and affordable housing for low and moderate income persons.

Locally, the Towns of Amherst, Cheektowaga, and Tonawanda have formed a consortium to qualify for the grant program and carry out these important housing activities.

The Town of Tonawanda uses the HOME funding for our First Time Homebuyer New Build Program (program currently suspended), First Time Homebuyer Closing Cost Assistance Program, Residential Rehabilitation Program, and other affordable housing projects.
