School Year

2019-20 School Year:
Activities include homework help, arts and crafts, sports, field trips, special events, and use of gymnasium, game room, lounge, computer lab, playground, and outdoor fields. Children ages 4-6 participate in our Funland Program. We provide adult supervision and will be open most school holidays including early release days.

Ages: 4-11 (up to and including 6th grade)
Dates: Monday-Friday, September 3, 2019-June 25, 2020
Hours: 3:00pm-6:00pm & extended times as indicated on schedule (we follow the Ken-Ton School District calendar only)
Closed: November 28-29, December 24-25, December 31-January 1, April 10, May 25, June 26, and Ken-Ton School District Snow Days

Memberships & Pricing
Monthly Memberships: Includes all regular school days & early release days that fall within that month
Monthly Membership (one child, without Access Card): $140
Monthly Membership (one child, with Access Card): $135
Monthly Membership (multiple children, each with Access Card): $125 per child
Drop-Ins: If you just need your child to come once in a while
Afternoon Drop-In Fee (on regular school days when we are open 3-6pm): $10
Early Release Day Drop-In Fee (when we are open 12-6pm): $20
Vacation Club: Vacation Club will run on full days that school is closed when Jefferson is open 8am-6pm (ie. February break). Must sign up two weeks in advance.
Vacation Club Member Fee (must have a current membership in that month): $25 per day
Vacation Club Non-member: $35 per day

What is Vacation Club and why do I have to pay separately for it? We had to change our pricing structure for the 2019-20 school year. Because of the additional cost of staffing, field trips/special events, etc. on school breaks, and because not all of our Kids Club members attend Jefferson on these days, we broke these days out separately and call them Vacation Club days. Any day that we are open 8am-6pm is considered a Vacation Club day. If you need your child to attend on a Vacation Club day (ie. Superintendent Conference Day, Winter Break, Columbus Day Break, Spring Break, etc.), you can sign up and pay for those days individually. This way, we know exactly how many children to expect and can staff and plan appropriately.

If your child has a Kids Club membership for the month of February, for example, they would receive the discounted Vacation Club rate of $25 per day for the February break (as opposed to $35). Vacation Club days are NOT included in their membership, so you must register and pay separately! Early release days are still included in the monthly Kids Club membership.

The most important thing is planning ahead to register for Vacation Days as least two weeks in advance (some days require even more notice; registrations for the November 5 Vacation Club are due by September 29 in order to guarantee a spot on the Strong Museum field trip).

Please let us know if you have any questions – we know this can be confusing!

For ages 4-6 (incoming Pre-K*-1st graders)

*If your child will be starting Pre-K in the fall, they should have participated in a preschool, daycare, or other structured social program before attending camp.

Camp Minis is geared toward children ages 4-6 years old. Campers will engage in age-appropriate games and activities that they can be successful with. They will participate in a daily routine of arts and crafts, non-competitive sports, swimming (twice a week), playground time, team building activities focusing on working together with others and socialization, as well as enrichment and educational activities throughout the day (examples: science lessons and sensory play).

Camp Minis offers a nurturing environment to help our youngest campers feel comfortable trying out new experiences, learning everyday life skills, and building long lasting friendships. They will partake in weekly field trips such as Hidden Valley, Explore and More, and Darien Lake, and campers will have access to many other special weekly events and guests that are sure to engage and entertain campers all summer long! We look forward to an exciting summer ahead!

Camp Minis Director: Melissa Calhoun
Melissa has been our Funland coordinator (ages 4-7) during our school year program for over 20 years and had also acted as the Director of Camp Special Place for several years before that camp merged with our other programs. She also has previous experience working at Summit Center and the Town playgrounds. As the mother of a 5-year old boy, she knows firsthand what works well for this age group and loves planning creative activities, games, stories, and crafts for this age range. Her favorite part of camp is getting to know the kids and coming up with new activities for them, and she especially looks forward to the Camp Carnival each year.

 Sample Schedule

For ages 7-9 (incoming 2nd-4th graders)

Camp Minors is for children ages 7-9. Our daily schedules are designed to support the developmental needs of the growing child. The age groups have different rotating activities to focus on enrichment, skills, fun, physical activity, and educational learning opportunities. Our daily schedule will give campers a sampling of art, sports, playground time, team building, and free play, as well as swimming twice weekly, special guests, presenters, and performers, and camp-wide events. With many different activities being offered, there is always something to be excited about! We encourage our campers to try all of the activities. Campers will be traveling with a group of 8-10 other campers their age and a counselor. This program will provide lots of hands-on, engaging activities. Each week the campers will depart on a field trip and have a presentation that coincides with the camp theme. Teaching cooperation and teamwork are at the heart of this program as campers make new friends, develop life skills, and make amazing summer memories. We cannot wait to get started!

Camp Minors Director: Samantha Dellapenta
Sam returns to Jefferson after spending most of the school year student teaching and substitute teaching. She was our Co-Camp Director in 2019 and is excited to focus on this age group for 2020. With several years’ experience working with our programs and in schools, Sam is excited to incorporate some kitchen chemistry activities, bring in some cool guest presenters, and run some awesome new events (like a Color Run!?). Sam loves going to Darien Lake and riding roller coasters with campers.

 Sample Schedule

For ages 10-13 (incoming 5th-8th graders)

Comprised of our oldest campers, our “Majors Camp” is a program that plays an integral part in our other camps, while also existing separately.

Once enrolled, your child will engage in common camp activities such as sports, art, outdoor free time, team building, and swimming. As we recognize that our oldest campers may have differing interests than our other campers, we also offer age appropriate experiences for your child as well. New this summer, Leadership is an engaging program that will be integrated into Majors Camp. This program focuses on building key social, emotional, and leadership skills for today’s adolescents. These are skills that will prepare them for Middle School, High school, and the years beyond.

Paired alongside this new program, your child will also have the opportunity to apply their skills after being placed in a Jr. Camp Leadership position. Here, they will work closely with a camp counselor, coordinator, or camp director. They will be charged with helping to plan, run, and oversee activities for the younger members of our camp.

Finally, Majors campers will be offered the unique opportunity to engage in field trips that are appropriate for their age and interest levels. Some examples include Buffalo RiverWorks, Niagara Gorge, and 5 Wits. They will also have access to special age-appropriate camp visitors and special events. We look forward to what is sure to be a rewarding summer!

Camp Majors Director: Sarah Pray
Sarah is back again this summer after another year of teaching in Warsaw. Sarah has been our Camp Director for the last two years and prior to that worked as a pool supervisor, lifeguard, and swim instructor. She has been busy planning for our new camp this summer, and is excited to incorporate a leadership curriculum. Her favorite memory of camp is all of the close friendships that are formed, and she most looks forward to the Talent Show and seeing all of the campers show off their interests and skills.
