PRESS RELEASE – 4/9/19

SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION IN FULL SWING

The Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks & Recreation department is more excited than ever for summer. Their summer day camp, formerly held at the Kenmore Community Center in Mang Park, will take place at their new location inside the former Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. The camp welcomes children ages 5-11 to participate in swimming, arts and crafts, sports and games, weekly field trips, fun events, special guests, and enrichment projects. Jefferson offers a gymnasium, auditorium, cafeteria, lounge, game room, Funland room for younger campers, outdoor space, basketball court, baseball diamond, playground, and a few classrooms for programming. Camp takes place 7:30am-6pm Monday-Friday, July 1-August 23. Jefferson is located at 250 Athens Blvd. The cost is $175 per week for Town of Tonawanda and Village of Kenmore residents, or $225 per week for non-residents. Please note the camp does not offer a per-day/part-time option; only per-week registrations are accepted.

“For about $3 an hour, you’re getting quality childcare, a t-shirt, field trip, a chance to go swimming at Lincoln, plus all the special events and activities planned like Camp Olympics, the Camp Talent Show, Camp Carnival, field days, and more. We try to make it affordable for families, and we feel we offer a great value,” said Dan Crangle, Councilman and Chairman of the Youth, Parks and Recreation Committee.

Registration is now open. You can sign up at the Youth, Parks & Recreation office at 299 Decatur Road (open Monday-Friday 8am-4pm) and online at www.ttypr.com.
