The Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with National Fuel and NFTA-METRO are hosting the Second Annual Earth Day Rails to Trails Clean Up on Saturday, April 22.
This 3.9 mile trail is composed of two segments on top of a former railroad bed in the Town of Tonawanda and the City of Tonawanda.
“Last year’s Clean Up event brought out hundreds of volunteers and we’re looking forward to getting everyone involved again this year,” said Dan Crangle, Town Councilman and Chairman of the Youth, Parks and Recreation Committee.
Volunteers are asked to meet at Lincoln Arena (1200 Parker Blvd, Tonawanda, NY 14223) at 8:30am to receive assignments. You may need to get yourself to a different part of the path, depending on where you are assigned, so please be prepared to provide your own transportation. Dress appropriately for weather, this project will take place rain or shine. Pants, long sleeves, gloves, and boots are encouraged.
This is a great event for families, neighbors, sports teams, youth groups, and coworkers to get involved in their community and become stewards of this new walking and biking path. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Sign up to volunteer online HERE.
