Junior Golf Program
The Program
The Town of Tonawanda Junior Golf Program offers youth an opportunity to play golf in a fun, structured environment. This weekly summer program gives kids the ability to learn about the game of golf while improving their own golf skills. The program fits golfers of any skill level and preaches values of honesty, proper golf etiquette, and pace of play. The program is split into three sections, based on age and golf experience, and offers kids the ability to golf with their friends, as well as meet other golfers within the program.

The Town of Tonawanda Youth Parks & Recreation Department is proud to offer new summer golf classes through a partnership with The First Tee of Western New York. The First Tee of Western New York is a local chapter of The First Tee® National Organization, an internationally respected youth organization that promotes life skills & leadership through the game of golf.

In the fall of 2014 The First Tee of WNY partnered with the Ken-Ton School District to introduce students to The First Tee Nine Core Values, Nine Healthy Habits and basic motor skills of the game of golf during physical education classes. We are pleased to announce The First Tee’s core program, the Life Skills Experience, will now be offered to area youths ages 7-17 at both the Brighton Golf Course in July and August and inside the Paddock Golf Dome during the fall and winter months.

Creating a learning environment that is fun and filled with interactive games and activities, The First Tee program exposes participants to life skills seamlessly as they experience the game of golf. All participants begin at the PLAYer level and will have the opportunity to certify by passing both written and playing assessments to progress through the program. Participants generally spend two seasons or sessions at each level and are divided by age and experience within their level and class.

The First Tee Nine Healthy Habits curriculum is incorporated into each lesson educating and empowering participants to make positive choices that impact their physical, social and emotional health.

Classes are taught by trained The First Tee Coaches and volunteer mentors. To learn more about becoming a volunteer or to sign up your child today, please visit   http://www.thefirstteewesternny.org/club/scripts/section/section.asp?NS=GRG call (716) 250-3355.
